Assalamualaikum..

Hai!! This is my last post for this subject. Today I'm going to write about the third last topic in this subject which is Internet. This topic is quite interesting and nowadays it become important in our life. People used internet for many things such as to interact with each other by using facebook account or any social network,  to search information and so on. We can get almost everything from internet. Of course we know what the uses of internet and how to use it but do we know the history of internet??

Internet is about network or computer network. It is the largest network in the world that connects people or organization all over the world. Internet also popular in term of 'information highway'. Internet has been started in 1969 and as known as ARPANET ( used in California). In 1980, ARPANET was renamed as Internet. 

ISP( Internet Service Provider ) is a company that provides Internet access to users or subscribers  of its services. Celcom, Maxis, TM Wifi, Digi and U-mobile are the examples of ISP. 

There are some internet issues that anyone have faced it such as  phishing ,  virus and spoofing. 

Internet is a fascinating topic in this subject but it is a difficult topic too. I couldn't understand this topic at all. I still blur and not clear about the internet issues. I hope I still have time to review and  find the information that related to this topic before final exam.

Microsoft Power Point

Hai!! In week 8, we have learned one kind of Microsoft Office which is Microsoft Power Point. Microsoft Power Point is a software that was created for presentation. It is used all over the industry from the smallest company up to the Government and universities. It allows user to create view and present slide shows that combine text, shapes, pictures, graphs, animation, charts, video and much more.

For this topic, Mr. Azzamudin has called students randomly, asked them to come in front and followed his instruction. He  taught us how to insect the picture, insect sound, and so on. Overall, now I got know the functions of Microsoft Office Power Point and I how to use it. 

Microsoft Excel

Assalamualiakum....

Hai!! I have learned one of Microsoft Office in this course which is Microsoft Excel. Microsoft Excel is a software that allows user to create tables, to calculate and to analyse data. This type of software is called spreadsheet.

Active cell is a selected cell in which data is entered when user begin typing. Only one cell is active at a time.

Formula bar is  a bar at the top of the Excel window that user use to enter or edit values or formulas in cells or charts.

Name box is a box at the left end of the formula bar that identifies the selected cell, chart item or drawing object.

Sheet or page is called a worksheet. When user open a new Excel file, it automatically starts user with three worksheet but user can add more


For this topic, Mr. Azzamudin was called students randomly, asked them to come in front and followed his instruction. He taught us how to insert the chart and how to use the formula. This topic is one of the easiest in this subject. Overall, I understand what have been taught about.

Microsoft Word

Assalamualaikum ..

Hai!!! In week 6, I have learnt about the most popular Microsoft Office among students and employees which is Microsoft Office Word. I have say so because Microsoft Word is mostly used by students and employees to do their assignment and tasks compared to others. Although, the uses of Microsoft Word is widely spread but some people still don't know how to use it.

Microsoft Word or as commonly known as Word is a software application that allows user to perform word processing. User may use Word to create documents such as letters, invitations, term papers, flyers, resumes, novels, and much more.

Application Button presents a menu of commands that involve doing something to, with a document or workspace. For instance, if user want to create the new page, user just go to application button and click create new.

Quick access toolbar is a small and customize toolbar that displays the most frequently used commands such as Save icon. 

Shortcuts or now fondly known as Key Tips has allowed users to work faster by pressing the 'ALT', 'CTRL', and FN button. The examples of Key Tips are listed below :

CTRL + P    = print

F12              = save as

CTRL + K   = hyperlink ( you have to highlight the word that you want to make hyperlink first) 

CTRL + B    = Bold text

CTRL + I     = Italic text

CTRL + U   = Underline the text 

From this topic, I got to know many things about Microsoft Word. I got to know the functions and how to do shortcuts for many things in Microsoft Word. Also, Mr Azzamudin taught us in different way for this topic  that make me more understand and more clear. What I mean is he called students randomly, asked them to come in front, followed his instruction and showed us how to do it. In lab session for this week, we had test about Microsoft Word. Alhamdulillah, I've done it without difficulty but not at all.

Window OS

Assalamualaikum...

Hai!! In week 5, I have learned the fifth topic in computer internet which is Window Operating System (OS). Window OS was developed by Microsoft Corporation to run personal computers (PCs).

In this topic, we have learned about Window 7. I get know the advantages, history, the uses and the features of window 7. I had been used window 7 before for 6 years but I never knew the uses and advantages of it. Overall, I have gained more information and knowledge about this topic. I hope I will be able to apply what have I learned in the future.

Network

Assalamualaikum..

Hai!! In this post, I'm going to write about Computer Network which is one of the topic that I learned in week 4. Computer network is a group of two or more computing devices connected via a form of communication technology.

The basic components of networking are topology, architecture and protocol. Topology is a physical layout of network while architecture is a design of communication network that allowing different system ( comprising hardware, software, and protocols) and devices to communicate with each other. Protocol is the rules in data communication.

Server based network  is a based type of LAN wherein user  login to a controlling computer, It called a server and more secure. 

Peer-to-peer is a network that created when two or more PCs are connected an share resources without going through a separate server computer.

WAN, MAN and LAN are types of network

WAN spans a large geographical area such country.

This topic is totally engrossed me. I grasped what the topic is all about. Actually, when Mr. Azzamudin explained to us about this topic , I got confused at first but I read more and search for the information and now I think I understand more about the topic than before.

Software

Assalamualaikum...

Hai!! Software is the third topic in this subject. We have learned this topic in week 3. Software is  a collection of instructions that enable user to interact with computer or have the computer perform specific tasks for them.

Software has divided into 3 categories which are system software, application software and programming language. System software is a type of computer program that is design to run a computer's hardware and application programs. There are 2 types of software which are operating system and utility program.

There are so many sub-topic in this topic. When I read this topic I feel like I'm going to vomit because there are so many things that confusing me. Also, I felt so tired and my brain couldn't absorb what have I read. However the topic is too many but I have tried to understand and finish reading until the end of the topic.


In class, Mr. Azamuddin has shown us the video about system backup and system restore. Actually, I didn't get what the video is all about because I'm not pretty good in listening.

Computer Hardware 2

Hai!! For this post, I'm going to continue about the previous post which is Computer Hardware. But today, I'm going to focus more on computer rather than hardware.


Computer has 5 generation. The first generation (1940-1956) is Vacuum Tube. Second generation (1956-1963) is Transistor while the third (1964-1971) is integrated circuits or micro chip. The fourth generation (1971-present) is microprocessor and the last one (present and beyond) is artificial intelligence.


Computer architecture is the art that specifies relations and parts of a computer system. It consists of processor, memory( RAM/ ROM ), input, output, datapaths and control.  There are 6 categories of computers which are embedded computer, mobile computer, personal computer, midrange servers, mainframe computer and supercomputer.


System units is a box-like case housing the electronic components of a computer that used to process data. In a simple word system units is the main part of a desktop computer. It includes motherboard, CPU, RAM and other components. The components are processor, memory module, cards, ports and connectors. System units also known as 'tower' or 'chassis'.

Overall, I think this topic is so simple but there are so many components and the terms that made me confuse. But all the confusion were disappear after I've done wrote this topic. Hehe!! See you in the next post.

Computer Hardware 1

Assalamualaikum...

Hai!! This is my second trimester in foundation. So, for ICT course, I chose to study Computer Internet in this trimester. Actually, I have taken Literacy for this trimester but when I came to class, I realized that many students have taken the subject and the class was seem very crowd. Then, I came to Computer Internet class to see the situation and it was cool and more relaxed.

Before Mr. Azzamudin teach us the first topic in Computer Internet. We had been briefed about computer by him. Computer is a programmable machine that perform tasks or calculations according to a set of instructions or programs. Also, Mr. Azzamudin explained to us about components of computer (hardware and software) and the elements of computer (input, output, storage, communication, and processing).

Next, Mr. Azzamudin taught us about computer data representation and numbering system. Data representation is a methods used internally to represent information stored in computer. Computers store lots of different types of information such as texts and numbers. Computers work with a binary number system that consists of only two digits which are 1 and 0. One digit in binary number system is called 'bit' and a combination of 8 bits is called byte. There are 4 types of number system which are binary, octal, hexadecimal and decimal.

This topic is quite easy but I got confused about numbering system at first. I got confused how to convert them into others number system. However, Mr. Azzamudin gave us many exercises how to convert the numbering system. Lastly, I didn't get confused at all.
